Navigation and visible services (Sparks for Teams)

Last updated: August 2026

This page describes how navigation (sidebar on desktop, bottom bar on mobile) works in the main app and which entries depend on your connected services.

Where is navigation?

  • Desktop: Sidebar on the left with icons for Chat, Teams, Calendar, Calls, Settings, etc. Icons can be reordered by dragging.
  • Mobile: Bottom navigation. Defaults often include Chat, Teams, Calendar, AI Agent; more areas via Customize navigation.
  • Customize: Menu (three dots) → “Customize sidebar” / “Customize navigation” — visibility and order.

Under Appearance, Separate Matrix and Microsoft can group sidebar apps.

The active app (here Chat) is highlighted; badges show unread items. At the bottom: More (⋯) and Apps. See also Areas.

Which entries are shown?

  • Chat, Teams (Matrix), Calendar, Calls, Contacts (label often People), Activity, AI Agent, Planner, etc. are usually available (unless hidden).
  • Microsoft Teams Chat and Microsoft Teams Channels appear only when a Microsoft account is connected.

No Microsoft account connected

  • Microsoft Teams Chat and Microsoft Teams Channels are not shown in the sidebar or mobile navigation.
  • A direct link (e.g. bookmark to /ms-chat or /ms-channels) shows a Microsoft sign-in screennot an automatic redirect to the chat home page.

Connect a Microsoft account

  • Where: Settings → Accounts & organisations (provider / connected accounts).
  • After sign-in, the Microsoft areas appear (if visible in customization).
  • If Microsoft sign-in fails (redirect_uri_mismatch, portal rejects http://tauri.localhost): Connect Microsoft 365 to Sparks (Entra) — an IT / tenant-admin task.
