Tab: Polls

Context​

Integrated tab in chat rooms and channels. Activated via Add Tab. Based on the Matrix Polls protocol.

Layout​

  • Tab appears next to the conversation
  • Overview of all polls in the room
  • Click poll → details and voting

Features​

Create Poll​

  1. Click "New poll" or "Create poll"
  2. Enter question
  3. Add options (at least 2)
  4. Optional: Allow multiple choice, anonymous voting
  5. Publish → All room participants see the poll

Answer Poll​

  • Click option(s)
  • Can be changed until close (if allowed)
  • Live results visible

View Results​

  • Live results visible to all
  • Bars or percentages per option
  • Who voted (except for anonymous polls)

Close Poll​

  • Creator can close poll
  • No further votes; results remain visible

Typical Use​

  • Decisions: Date proposals, restaurant choice, option A vs B
  • Feedback: Satisfaction, mood, opinion
  • Quick votes: Without external tool, directly in chat

Privacy​

  • Polls can be disabled in Settings → Privacy
  • When disabled: Polls are not shown/participated
