Dialog: Add People
How to Open
- In Chat: Open room → Header "Add people" / Plus icon
- Room Info: Open room drawer → "Add people"
- Room Settings: Members section → "Add people"
- Teams/Spaces: Team context menu → "Add member"
Features
The dialog lets you search for and invite people to a Matrix room or space.
Search (People Picker)
- Matrix users: Search by name, email, or Matrix ID (e.g.
@user:domain.com) - Microsoft Entra users: With a connected Microsoft account, also search the Microsoft 365 directory
- Results show a badge (Matrix / MS) to indicate the source
Invitation Flow

Inviting External MS Users
When you select Microsoft Entra users who do not yet have a Matrix account, a second dialog appears with two options:
- Send via Email: Sends an email with sign-up link and room link (matrix.to)
- Send via Teams: Opens or creates a 1:1 MS Teams chat and sends the invitation there
The invitation includes:
- Link to sign up for Sparks
- Direct link to the room (matrix.to)
Requirement: Microsoft account connected in Settings → Provider Accounts.
